Lost/Found
Music for keyboard and choir recently revived, presented with virtuoso flair
A lost masterpiece newly found: Spanish composer Enrique Granados’ Cant de les estrelles (Song of the Stars) received its world premiere in 1911, then disappeared for almost a century. The score languished in a forgotten archive, where it was damaged by fire, water, and mold. Revived in a new edition by Douglas Riva at a 2007 New York performance, this piece is now regarded as one of the composer’s finest works. It is, in essence, a piano concerto with choir and organ in place of the orchestra. Ars Nova Singers is proud to present Lost/Found, featuring the Colorado premiere of this work, along with sumptuous works by Dominick Argento and Lili Boulanger. Join us for an evening of rediscovered treasures and timeless beauty! Special guest artist David Korevaar, piano.
Program includes:
