What’s your vocal 14’er? Conducting the monumental Monteverdi Vespers of 1610 was a summit for me. I’m evidently the only person in Colorado to have done so, and I had the pleasure (and honor) of doing it twice.
Tell us about your musical background. Besides two degrees in voice, I spent a year in Amsterdam studying baroque performance practices which led to a career as a soloist in the period performance chamber music world, mostly in Washington, D.C., and in numerous European tours. In 2011, I formed Boulder-based Seicento Baroque Ensemble which specializes in music of the 1600s, the seicento.
What song or composer should Ars Nova cover in the future? An Apostrophe to the Heavenly Hosts by Healy Willan, a beautiful and challenging piece. My (very advanced) high school choir performed it, and I’ve always wanted to repeat the experience with Ars Nova.
Joined Ars Nova: 2005, then a brief break, and back in 2021.
