What is your hometown? Oakland, CA. I’ve been in Boulder for three years as a Master’s student in Voice Performance and Pedgagogy. I joined Ars Nova Singers in 2022.
Tell us about your musical background. I began singing in the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir when I was 8 years old. I sang and toured with that choir until I graduated high school. In undergraduate I studied Voice Performance and Plant Science at UC Davis. I sang in the early music ensemble at UC Davis and other campus performance groups. After graduation I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and worked as the Program Director and voice teacher at the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir. I also sang with many groups in the area including San Francisco’s Volti, San Francisco Renaissance Voice, Marin Baroque Ensemble, and Opera Paralélle. In 2020, I moved to Boulder to pursue my MM in Voice Performance at CU Boulder. While living here I have performed with Eklund Opera, Boulder Opera, Loveland Opera, CU Now and Opera Steamboat. I sing all types of repertoire but am especially drawn to new works.
What is your favorite Ars Nova piece? The Lark Ascending.
What is your favorite musical experience of all time? Singing in the Estonian Laulupidu at age 12. The immense feeling of singing the liberation songs of the Estonian with 30,000 other people on stage.
What is your favorite food and drink? Garlic noodles and kombucha!
What did you do to keep busy during Covid? Lots of singing!
What is your favorite hobby? Hiking – anytime, anywhere!
Please share a random fact about yourself. In order to graduate from my Plant Science degree I had to pass a tractor driving test!
