Where Voices Meet
A confluence is where two or more currents meet and become one — distinct sources joining into a single flow. It’s a fitting name for what happens every time Ars Nova Singers takes the stage: individual voices, each still their own, coming together to become one sound. This season traces that idea from the start, opening with a program built around flow itself, then following it through darkness and light, sound and motion, springs and gears, and closing with crossing currents, where the season’s own voices diverge and find their way back together.

House Concert with Nicolò Spera
Ars Nova opens the season without singing a note. Guitarist Nicolò Spera plays alone — six-string, ten-string and theorbo — in a private Boulder home. Saturday, September 12, 5:00 pm. Seating strictly limited.

October 9–11, 2026
Rivers & Streams
The season begins at the source — snowmelt, seeps, and creeks nobody has named, all going the same direction without having agreed to it. Then two of them meet. With guest artist Nicolò Spera.

December 10–19, 2026
Darkness & Light
The pair that needs the least introduction, sung across four December performances — in the weeks when it stops being a metaphor anyone has to work at.

February 5–7, 2027
Sound & Motion
Sound isn't an object. It's an event that happens to air — pressure moving outward, arriving somewhere, moving something. Music and motion on one stage, with guest artist Min-Tze Wu.

March 11–13, 2027
Blake Morgan Residency
Three days with composer Blake Morgan — open rehearsal, workshop and concert. Most of what an audience hears is the last five percent; this is the other ninety-five. Free and open to the public.
Free admission
April 2–30, 2027
Springs & Gears
Brass, gearing, gauges, visible mechanism — steampunk that isn't a departure at all, because every mill wheel and turbine is water put to work. Water was the first machine.

May 21–22, 2027
Cross Currents
A confluence has a downstream — the stretch where "which one was this?" has stopped being answerable, and stopped being interesting. The season closes with composer Marques Garrett.
