Hometown: Round Rock, Texas. I’ve been in the Denver/Boulder area for 2.5 years, and am just starting in Ars Nova Singers in 2023. I am currently working in various administrative positions.
Education: BM in vocal performance, Southern Methodist University (2018); MM in Composition at CU-Boulder (2022).
Musical background: I started piano at age 6 and continued lessons until age 19 (with a five-year break from 12-17). I sang in the then-named Conspirare Children’s Choir from ages 8-13. I played French Horn from grades 6-11 and sang in school choirs from grades 7-12. I started dabbling in composition and then then pursued a double-major in voice and composition at SMU. In 2020 I moved to Colorado to pursue my master’s degree in composition. I’ve worked as a choral ringer for a number of organizations, including church gigs in Austin, TX, Westview Lutheran Church, Boulder Philharmonic Chorus, and Orpheus Pagan Chamber Choir, in addition to my Choral Pro position with Ars Nova.
Favorite Ars Nova piece: Arvo Pärt Berlin Mass.
Favorite musical memory of all time: participaiting in the premiere of my own choral work “Twofold Silence.” And singing the Pearl Fisher’s Duet in Carnegie Hall accompanied by my high school orchestra.
Favorite food: Nothing beats ice cream!
Favorite craft beer: Innis & Gunn Caribbean Rum Cask Oak-Aged Red Ale.
How did you stay busy during the pandemic? I always had something to do, and started at CU in the Fall of 2020! Interesting time…
Favorite hobby: Listening to music! I love it all.
Random fun fact(s): I provided vocal percussionist services for a Jewish synagogue during my undergrad years. AND at one point I was the 10th-best Wordle speedrunner in the world-with a personal record of 10 boards in just under 30 seconds!
