Carrina Macaluso

Carrina Macaluso is a mezzo-soprano from Asheville, North Carolina, pursuing an Artist Diploma Certificate at the University of Colorado Boulder, where she studies with Abigail Nims. Macaluso also recently completed her master’s degree in vocal performance at CU Boulder. Before arriving in Colorado, she completed her Bachelor of Music degree with distinction at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she studied under Dr. Jeanne Fischer.

Macaluso is a versatile artist who regularly performs concert, oratorio, opera, and chamber music repertoire in the Denver metro area and beyond. She recently made her concert soloist debut with Boulder’s Seicento Baroque Ensemble performing the mezzo solos in Mozart’s C Minor Mass. She also made her debut with the Colorado Bach Ensemble performing in the chorus of Bach’s St. John Passion. Carrina has portrayed the roles of The Fox (The Cunning Little Vixen), Mrs. Patrick De Docher (Dead Man Walking), Ruth (The Pirates of Penzance), and Der Sandmann (Hänsel und Gretel) with Eklund Opera at The University of Colorado Boulder. Macaluso recently performed as the alto soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria with First United Methodist Church of Boulder in March 2026.

In October 2025, Macaluso was named a national semi-finalist in the student division of the Camille Coloratura Awards. She was also recognized as a semi-finalist in CU Boulder’s 2025-2026 Bruce Ekstrand Memorial Graduate Student Performance Competition.
