What’s Your Vocal “14er”? I think it would be an entire role. The Marschallin in Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier. For years I sang opera and conquered if you will a number of pyrotechnique coloratura arias. I portrayed all the “inas” and “ettas” and all the children, all the single aria cameo ingenue roles. I’ve also performed a pants role, Cherubino. Funny to be a coloratura and get cast in a mezzo role! My favorite supporting role was Constance in Poulenc’s Dialogue of the Carmelites. But I would not sing that now.
What’s a COVID-Times Hobby or Skill You’ve Picked Up? I doubled down on existing projects. Lots of gardening, knitting, and gathering materials for a collection of very short stories I’ve been planning to write all my life. Now, when will I begin to write them?!
